A tee designed to commemorate The Mall nightclub which was situated on the High Street in Stockton-on-Tees during the late 1980s and 1990s.

It's impossible to underestimate the importance of nightlife and club culture in Teesside. Nightclubs throughout the decades have gained iconic, almost mythical, status: The Kirk, The Fiesta, Club Bongo International, Rock Garden, Tall Trees, the Cornerhouse...

The Mall was quite simply an iconic club. It won numerous awards including UK Discotheque of the Year in 1988, 1989 and 1990 and boasted a regular clientele coming into town every weekend from as far afield as Leeds and Scotland. A colossal venue - a stylish conversion of an old Odeon cinema - it was almost as famous for its spectacular midnight laser light show as it was for its memorable appearance on the Hitman and Her TV show in 1991.

We studied posters, logos, beermats, menus, neon signs and VIP cards to come up with the design. The intention was to create something as bombastic as the club itself.

The Mall Tee is part of a brand new range of products that make up the TOURISM TEESSIDE Summer Collection - a series of designs based on some of the iconic and not so iconic nightclubs of our region.
