A tee designed to commemorate Mandy's Nightclub which existed in Middlesbrough in the basement of Corporation House between 1978 and 1983.

It's impossible to underestimate the importance of nightlife and club culture in Teesside. Nightclubs throughout the decades have gained iconic, almost mythical, status: The Mall, The Fiesta, Club Bongo International, Rock Garden, Tall Trees, the Cornerhouse...

Situated opposite the Town Hall in Corporation House, Mandys operated predominantly as a soul club with a smattering of New Romantic in its later days. The club is fascinating for a couple of reasons: firstly the logos and decor are absolutely fantastic - a bizarre cross between Studio 54 and Aubrey Beardsley; and secondly after it closed the premises would eventually become Blaises - the spiritual home of Teessides alternative scene in the 90s and 00s, where the walls were sweatier than the clientele.

The Mandys Tee is part of a brand new range of products that make up the TOURISM TEESSIDE Summer Collection - a series of designs based on some of the iconic and not so iconic nightclubs of our region.
