A tee designed to commemorate the restaurant where a Teesside icon was born. Legend has it that during the Second World War an American army chef called Nicos Harris was wounded in France but received treatment in a British hospital. He ended up in Middlesbrough and eventually opened The American Grill restaurant on Linthorpe Road in 1958, where he invented the Parmo.

The restaurant is now long gone but the Parmo has established itself as a Teesside institution. A slab of flattened pork or chicken, breadcrumbed and deep fried, smothered in generous layers of gloopy béchamel and orange cheese before being put under the grill to be served with garlic sauce, chips and a token portion of salad or creamed cabbage.

Trashterpiece is dedicated to celebrating the forgotten histories of Teesside, to reimagining and redesigning the past for future generations to enquire about and enjoy.

This design is printed on red GIldan Heavy tees.
